Databases & Indexes

The Arizona State Library is now providing us with a great number of information databases on a number of subjects. We still have access to EBSCOHost, Searchasaurus, and First Search. After you click on the link, you may have to enter your zip code. This will take you to the search screen where you may enter a search term or click on the "advanced search" link to get other options. This is a new service from the state library.

Access to some of these databases now requires a PIN Number.

That PIN Number is the last 4 digits of your phone number 

 

EBSCOHost  Full text articles and abstracts from around 700 journals. A wide variety of subjects are covered on a general level.
Within EBSCOHost you will find the following useful tools.

  •  Searchasaurus - A collection of research tools for children.

  •  Novelist - This resource will help you find novel series and browse best fiction lists at the levels of pre-school,    middle school, high school and adult. You can also search to find a book with certain plot lines or character  descriptions.

  •  Small Engine Repair Reference Center - Find information for the repair of small engines
    (motorcycles, atv's, boats).

  •  Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center - Information for the hobby and craft enthusiast.

  •  Home Improvement Reference Center - Do it yourself information for numerous home projects.

  •  Auto Repair Reference Center - Do it yourself vehicle repair information.

  •  Consumer Health Information - Find health information published in many languages.

WorldCat OCLC FirstSearch  A collection of indexes & databases on many topics.

Arizona Statewide Databases  These databases are provided for us with funding from the Maricopa County Library District and Tucson Pima Public Library, and through a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. They cover many topics on a variety of levels.

Ebooks  Access to electronic books downloadable for a short amount of time.

Mango   Mango Languages is an online language-learning system teaching actual conversation skills for a wide variety of languages, also offering text translation.

Aurolog  Aurolog is an access portal for learning foreign languages with the TELL ME MOREŽ method.

Heritage Quest  Genealogy.

Reference USA  Find businesses in the US and Canada, as well as physicians and dentists.
Also contains residential addresses and phone numbers for individuals in the US and Canada.

Encyclopedia  Encyclopedia Britannica online.
